Charley Chatty and the Wiggly Worry Worm

Synopsis

Charley Chatty likes to talk. Charley talks so much that her mouth gets dry but there's just so much to say!

"Why is the pavement brown?"
"I have got two shoes. Everyone has two shoes."
"I can hear the radio. Who is on the radio? Why is there a button on the radio?"

Sometimes, Charley's imagination takes over and she tells stories about things that didn't really happen. She doesn't mean to but she likes how it makes her feel important and the wiggly worry worm inside her belly goes away.

Written by a mum who understands, and her daughter (who also liked to tell tales), this is a story for children functioning at age 3-10.

Summary

Chapter 1: Charley's Worry Worm

Charley is a young boy who often worries about many things, big and small. One day, he discovers a tiny, green worm in his pocket. The worm introduces itself as Wiggly and reveals that it's a special kind of worm called a "worry worm." Wiggly explains that it will help Charley overcome his worries.

Example: Charley worries about a big school presentation, so Wiggly and Charley write down all of Charley's worries and put them into a jar.

Chapter 2: The Worry Box

Charley and Wiggly create a worry box where Charley can put all his worries. When he's feeling overwhelmed, he can simply drop a worry into the box and let Wiggly deal with it.

Example: Charley worries about getting lost on the way to the park, so he puts a worry about getting lost into the worry box.

Chapter 3: The Power of Deep Breathing

Wiggly teaches Charley the importance of deep breathing exercises. When Charley feels anxious, he can take deep breaths to calm his body and mind.

Example: Charley is nervous about a soccer game, so he practices deep breathing exercises before the game to help him relax.

Chapter 4: The Worry-Free Zone

Charley and Wiggly designate a special place in Charley's room as a "worry-free zone." This is a place where Charley can go to relax and focus on calming activities.

Example: Charley's worry-free zone is his bed, where he likes to read books to distract himself from worries.

Chapter 5: The Worry-Busting Song

Wiggly creates a catchy song for Charley to sing when he feels worried. The song helps Charley remember all the strategies he's learned for overcoming worries.

Example: Charley sings the worry-busting song on the way to school to help him calm his nerves about a math test.

Chapter 6: Wiggly's Farewell

After spending a lot of time together, Wiggly informs Charley that it's time for him to leave. However, Wiggly assures Charley that he will always be there for him in spirit.

Example: Charley is initially sad to see Wiggly go, but he remembers all the lessons he learned and how he can continue to use them to overcome worries.
